Project Echoes 4 – 08.27.10
Ok, this one was pretty fun….so fun, in fact, it took me several days to finally put it down; but it is time to work on my next development. I will definitely come back to it, though…I always do.Â
This was a curved drain found on the grounds of the Miller South Visual and Performing Arts School in Akron, OH. The shape and rhythm of the pattern caught my eye. I have turned this simple shape into something very intricate and interesting. Once again, I extracted some excerpts from the design and created some patterns that I can easily envision as contemporary area rugs or textiles. I can’t wait to start developing some prototypes of these patterns. Perhaps silkscreened pillows…hmmm (and I bet you too thought there were no cool people in Ohio! Keep it here and you will find out just how wrong THAT myth is!) 🙂
Check out the gallery of excerpt patterns…I think it is a nice combination of whimsy and elegance…
